Like other macaws, the Blue-and-Yellow Macaws mate for life. They can live for 65-70 years in captivity. These birds were nesting in a dead palm that was planted for ornamental purposes along a city road in Campo Grande, Brazil. The white on their face is skin with the black striped pattern formed by a few black feathers.
